Houses fascinate me. From the grand mansions to the huts, from slums to posh villages, these abodes are not only human physical structures, but in-depthly, manifestations of one's dream, aspirations, ideals, wants, desires, achievements, failures, and statuses both social and economic. Whatever house I see, I see beyond the walls, the windows and doors. Many of the houses that fascinate me are the old, time-ravaged abodes that show the harsh realities of time and age. To me, they are beauties in the rawest form, textural and basic, just like man in his basest form when subjected to life's challenges. Houses speak of time - our time, what was before us, and what is about to come.

For these photographs, I used very minimal lighting to showcase the granular characters of these wonderful subjects. I let whatever available light (or the absence of it) find its way into the pictures to bring down the subjects to their simplest forms. "Chiaroscuro," the Italian word for the "interplay of light and dark,"  not the camera, is the medium that launched the art you find here. Enjoy...

The presentation and thread made me a bit sensitive. There was a reason.I appreciate the effort sir.I just can't write how I feel.It might give way to all the heart's  reservations.Wish to share something regarding your post, but something hinders me from doing so.This is great! You're back once more to one of your greatest passions.Job well done!Doing my best to enjoy , but the more I focus on one the more I do tears..Quite absurd , but true.No question , please.I am an honest person.I might confess.Keep going.I mean with your 'light and dark'.

Thank you, Daisy. Even I was a bit emotional when I finally saw the pictures on my laptop. I actually revised the presentations here thrice because I couldn't get the right size by which to showcase the textural value of my pieces. Daisy, this is true - whatever arguments we had here were just part of the democratic expression. However, I noticed that you are very focused and proficient when you are not angry. Ditto other posters. I have vowed to myself never to go back to the old ways, answering posts tooth for a tooth, cheek by jowl. Ms Daisy, you may put down the sword... I have. Peace, lady.  notebook1

I think I got the right size and design for better appreciation now. Thanks.  coin2

And you are at your best in light and dark.Hope Mr. Dark Horse could see the difference between Mr.Leviathan and hmmm(these days) never mind.He could be the happiest poster.Well, Down the Sword..Okay.I got peace thru your photos then and never will I dwell on gloomy years..Efforts-commendable.As to the comment, sir I am at my best when inspired, at my worst when angry. And what makes Miss Daisy temperamental? The stumbling blocks in the forest and in the garden of Eden. But as you have said it's a matter of lighting an object.Light can absorb everything sir.I believe , you got it right.
There's a strength in prominent lighting.Like the poster whose strength is taken from lighter sides.Best shots, right angles , better now and I love how the letters were formed. You have carefully balanced the subjects. 2victory ^^^ The targets are better when viewed with a dark background.I saw the difference.Very fascinating!Good day , sir. Thanks for everything.God bless.
